The Men Behind the Names

The Men Behind the Names

I had always planned to take my family to visit The Vietnam Veterans Memorial, knowing the significance of “The Wall,” and the importance of experiencing it first-hand, as I believe every American should do out of respect and gratitude for each supreme sacrifice.

I was well into my forties and had never yet taken the trip for one reason or another. However, when we found out that The Moving Wall™, the traveling half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, was scheduled to be erected within an hour’s drive, we, in the interim, planned a visit.

Just as I’d anticipated, my emotions completely engulfed me as I stood in the rain and slowly ran my hand across the engraved letters. When I got home, I took solace in the keyboard and wrote “The Men Behind the Names.”
