CONNECTED by Linda Ellis

Connected
by Linda Ellis copyright 2011

We all have different views of life;
what we’ll take and what we’ll bring,
but the truth is, we’re not strangers
…we are a part of everything.

The man who lives his carefree days
inside a mansion on a ridge
is connected to the bearded man
who spends his days under a bridge.

Connected not by links or twine,
but instead, by invisible chains
and the same red, warm, human blood
that courses through their veins.

Though the rich man has inside his world
what the poor man may not see,
the poor man knows, true happiness
is found in what comes free.

Some believe they rise above
from prestige, wealth or fame
though the air they breathe, the ground they walk,
the sky…is still the same.

The roads we travel separately
somewhere intersect
at the juncture where your world and mine
inevitably connect.

Yes, we have our differences,
yet our commonalities are more
and though we may collide at times
like the waves clash with the shore,

remember, every solitary wave
is forever bonded to the sea,
as it is, we are united
and CONNECTED…you and me.

Your Poem ‘CONNECTED” is so true. We are all in some way connected to each other. And sometimes it takes a tragedy in life to realize how connected we are…. As in 9/11, Rich, poor, whatever nationality. We all connected with love and support for each other over the loss of people we didn’t even know… A “CONNECTION” that will forever stay in our Hearts,,,
